Celebrate World Bee Week, learn and make music.

Lovingly made by devoted dads, Maya the Bee: Music Academy

launches 23 May in Gdansk, Poland

Mindsense Games and Dapps Studio are pleased to announce the release of Maya the Bee: Music Academy, available for download since 20th May - World Bee Day. This thoughtful game is the result of professional musicians and game design pros devoted to teaching kids music. Deep within Maya’s meadow, they’ve created a vibrant world of rhythm and sound, with an additional section providing inspiration for helping bees.

Kids will learn about bees’ vital role, the crisis they face, and find out what they can do to get involved (get ready to plant some wildflowers with your kids)! Where this game truly shines is in the five mini-games that effortlessly guide kids through a world of rhythms, tones and composition. Maya the Bee: Music Academy is a bright, intelligent game that understands how kids learn.

Like a bee gathering pollen, a child in Maya’s world flits from puzzle to puzzle, encountering bee-bopping ants, a beat-conscious grasshopper and a grouchy spider— all of whom sneak musical lessons into their games. “Letting the kids do the exploring was key,” comments Marcin Siwak, one of the fathers who helped design the game. “We all drew from the Montessori method on this— we wanted to build a world that didn’t just teach, but inspired children to learn and discover music themselves.”

The crescendo of this game comes with a full-fledged, original concert that kids create with Maya and her band (remember when meeting your cartoon heroes meant a trip to Comic Con?). Maya leads the kids through the game, and lends a helping hand as the games get more challenging.

Dapps,“Dads making apps with kids,” is a team of fathers devoted to building positive children’s games. “I actually coded much of this game with my daughter practicing the violin in the same room,” says Piotr Skwira. “Watching how she was playing with sounds, putting them together— that sense of exploration was exactly what I wanted to design into the game.”

Much of the game’s musical theory was provided by professional musicians, who consulted on every aspect of the game’s musical theory. “They were extremely helpful,” notes Jan Chichlowski, CEO of Mindsense Games and publisher of Maya the Bee: Music Academy.” The developers brought their skills and love of music, but it was the musicians— a professional conductor and music teacher among them— who helped us really nail the music theory.”

Maya the Bee: Music Academy is a no-brainer this World Bee Week. This is an educational kids game done right.

Maya the Bee: Music Academy is available globally for $3,99 at the Apple App Store.
