Free access to haunting new online co-op game

Edinburgh — 16/10/2019: Straight Back Games have announced their haunting online co-op puzzle game, The Watchers, will play host to a beta from October 31st to November 3rd on Steam (PC & Mac). Request a pair of beta keys by joining their official Discord server.

Take control of twins (brother and sister) as they search an abandoned cult headquarters for clues to the disappearance of their mother. In this unique duo co-op experience, players must combine strong communication and navigation skills to gather cursed objects and evade disturbing enemies.

"We wanted to make a game that really requires players to work together," said game designer Joe Fender. "Think Dark Souls difficulty but now you have someone else to blame. There are no jump scares here - instead, we create horror through atmosphere and challenging puzzles."

For access to The Watchers beta:

  1. Join The Watchers Discord community at
  2. Sign up in the #beta-signup channel

Each successful signup will receive 2 keys so that they can play with a friend. Signups close at 11:59pm PDT on October 30th.

The Watchers is the first game from Straight Back Games, an independent game developer started in 2019 by Joe Fender and Luke Fanning. The developers' passion for frustratingly difficult puzzles and exciting co-operative experiences was the drive behind its creation.

Collaborators also include family members Andrew Fender (puzzle design), Hannah Headden (story and script) and Peter Fender (original music score).
