BUDAPEST, Hungary – Dec. 5, 2019 – The couch co-op party game Tank Maniacs is now available on Steam. Featuring a healthy degree of cartoonish carnage, vengeful bots and tons of content at launch, the game is perfect for those tired of boorish single-player campaigns that are too serious for their own good.

Developed by Hungarian studio Gamelab, Tank Maniacs perfects 4-player local multiplayer (and online multiplayer through Steam’s Remote Play Together feature) with 11 different tanks and characters, 8 distinct maps, and 4 insane PvP modes. But the fun doesn’t end there: Taking things to a whole new level, the game’s official Twitch extension allows the audience to influence the streamer’s game. The full version of Tank Maniacs also introduces some standout game modes: “Gameshow” (Twitch extras without the chat voting), and “Symmetric Showdown” (every player switches to the same tank periodically to ensure a fair playing field).

What Makes Tank Maniacs Truly Unique?

At its heart, Tank Maniacs is a fast-paced local multiplayer party game featuring wonderfully weird tanks, fun characters, and friendship-destroying battles. Oh, and the game has won some awards as well!

Awards

  • 1st Place - Function demoparty Game Dev Compo 2018
  • 1st Place - Arcadia PixelCon GrandPix 2018

Although Tank Maniacs is primarily a local couch party game, it’s possible to play over the Internet through Steam’s Remote Play Together feature. When a new game is launched, the host can send invites via Steam Overlay. (Players need to already be friends on Steam, of course.) Once everyone’s in, voice chat will be automatically enabled.

Tank Maniacs brings together some of the most creative developers in Hungary to give players an unmatched 4-player couch co-op experience. But Steam is only the beginning. In 2020, expect to see Tank Maniacs on all current-gen consoles – including the Xbox One X and One S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, and Nintendo Switch,” says István Kolbert, CEO at Gamelab. “Couch co-op has never been this fun – and with the addition of the Twitch extension, this unpredictable. We hope PC gamers everywhere will give Tank Maniacs a chance and help us make the game even better.”

About Gamelab

Based in Budapest and founded in 2017 by István Kolbert, Peter Földi, Milan Makádi, András Tündik and Balázs Sabransky, Gamelab was born out of a shared unwavering passion for game development. When the team was brought together for a project that couldn’t be further from game development, they had to convince management that their innovative ideas would be best used in high-quality indie games. This talented team of misfits soon embarked on their first title, hand-drawn runner Wormster Dashand the rest is history! Gamelab is home to those who don’t belong – where games are a result of game jams, and development is all about having fun both inside and OUTSIDE of the game.
