Starcom: Nexus Leaves Steam Early Access with Stellar Reviews
Starcom: Nexus entered Early Access exactly one year ago today, an ambitious re-imagining of a beloved Flash game. Set in an open-world universe, the player explores a strange new galaxy filled with aliens, artifacts, and anomalies. They must use new discoveries to transform their small shuttle into a powerful starship of their own design while unraveling the mystery that brought them there.
Using Discord, Steam discussion forums, and an in-game mechanism by which players could submit anonymous feedback to the developer at the press of a key (patterned after the Early Access hit Subnautica), Wx3 has learned what game elements were working, what needed improvement, and what to yank.
Coupled with analytics tools that identified where players were getting stuck, the game has made huge strides with each update. Adding both new content that gives players a “wow” sense of discovering a strange and beautiful galaxy, as well as fine-tuning the mechanics to provide a smooth learning curve.
Here’s what recent Early Access players have been saying:
“…an artfully balanced, well thought out 2D space exploration masterpiece. Currently still in beta, it has completely blown my socks off. From the flight model to the writing and the soundtrack everything blends perfectly to provide one of if not THE best exploration experience I have ever encountered in a space exploration game of any kind. Pick it up now, you won't be sorry.”
“Starcom is a unique experience, which should not be missed.”
“…the game sucked me in and wouldn't let go.”
“Man I rarely write reviews but this game is such a gem. I love games like SPAZ, Deathwar, Star Control 2. And this is up there with the best of them…”
“If you like space ship build-outs, interesting missions / exploration discoveries, and direct path to conquering challenging enemies through research and proper design... this game is it.”
“Wanted to check it out before going to bed... 10 hours later, when the sun is high, I still wonder how that happened :) “
Starcom: Nexus entered general release on December 12th, 2019 with a 94% favorable rating on Steam.
