Cologne, March 31st, 2020 The devcom-team is deciding on their plans for this year: In light of the Corona crisis, some of the planned measures are already being announced several months before the event is due to begin. As with gamescom, digital formats will be significantly expanded at devcom this year. The official gamescom developer conference will be held, at least in digital form, from August 22 to 24. The organisers will not postpone the event.

As with gamescom, following the developments of the Corona pandemic, an assessment will be made together with the respective local authorities in mid-May as to whether and in what form the developer conference can take place on site in Cologne. At this point in time, it will also be clearer what changes must be made in order to fully guarantee the health of all visitors on-site.

The organizers of devcom confirm that in case the event cannot take place in Cologne, following a possible governmental decree, visitors will be reimbursed for their tickets. Exhibitors will also be fully reimbursed for any payments made to Koelnmesse or devcom GmbH, should the public authorities decide that devcom will not be able to take place in Cologne.

Further information about the digital formats of both events will be announced in the next few months.

"Game developers all over the world are working on great projects and depend on conferences and events like devcom to pitch their projects, find partners, exchange information about their developments, learn and network. That's why my team and I are working hard to support our community in the best possible way and offer them efficient devcom online components as well as a secure on-site conference in August, here in Cologne. In just a few weeks, the first tools will go live to hopefully help many teams out there to master this crisis at least a little bit during the peak phase of the Corona epidemic," says Stephan Reichart, Managing Director of devcom GmbH.
