Atlanta, GA (April 6th, 2020) - In just a few days on April 9th, indie studio +Mpact Games will release the 4th major update to their class-based online samurai & ninja game, Hanako: Honor & Blade, on Steam early access. The game will be on sale and on a free weekend from April 9th - 12th. The new update features a year of massive combat polish, introduction of an item store, end of match cinematics and a new map based on the question “what if cancer was a samurai village?”

In addition, +Mpact Games debuted a new trailer for their 4th early access update, giving new faces to the Hanako family, a first look at the new map, combat improvements and epic victory cinematics. To view the final trailer, visit:

Hanako: Honor & Blade is a game as a tribute, dedicated to lead developer Matt Canei’s late mother. He had the following strong words about the upcoming map and update, “Many of our developers have lost a loved one to cancer and this map was a deeply personal expression of transforming our own grief into a visually stunning, atmospheric space that captures the theme. We live in crazy times and the takeaway from this level or our game is that there is light in the darkness, and a path to overcome the challenges of our lives.”

Hanako: Honor & Blade will release to PC tentatively Q4 2020 or Q1 2021. The game is console approved for Xbox One and PS4 and release dates for console will be announced at a later date.

In HANAKO: HONOR & BLADE, players enter a beautiful or dark journey across a fictional rendition of feudal Japan, where two powerful samurai clans, the Hanako and Yamai, represent good and evil; dark and light and are battling for the peace or destruction of Japan. The game features four-classes (3 melee and 1 ranged with plans for more), full skill trees/build options, multiple melee stances at a combat pace much faster than other melee titles. Hanako presently has six full maps and four game modes ranging from ticket-based battles to complex team objective modes full of destruction and sieging villages. The game world and war all serve as a metaphor of a loved ones battle with cancer with each battlefield representing a different aspect of that fight.
