23 OCTOBER 2020 - Developer Sleepy Spider Studio is proud to launch the first major update to their intergalactic twin-stick shooter title, Project AETHER, currently on Steam. To celebrate the announcement, the studio has created a trailer which highlights the new features.

In the new update, players will be able to create and customize their own levels, using the unique hazards and ships from across the game as well as three new types created specifically for this game mode. Players will also have access to new weapons to battle the invading fleets.

Project AETHER is a high-octane love letter to retro twin-stick bullet hell games, as well as the classic giant-mech genre of anime series. When a mysterious alien force invades from the depths of space, players take control of the prototype AETHER mech unit in an attempt to fight off the threat, using a combination of a fully-customisable ranged weapon and a short-range melee sabre.

"In this update, we wanted to address a frequent request that had come up," said Sleepy Spider Studios' Ryan Shim. "We want to give players more freedom to interact with the game to show their creativity, and we think we've delivered on that in a way that feels satisfying."

Project AETHER's update is currently on Steam on October 23rd at a 25% discount, reducing the price from $12.99 / £10.29 / €10.79 to $9.74 / £7.72 / €8.09.
