Buenos Aires, September 28, 2021.- The world-class crossword game developed by etermax, Word Crack, celebrates its 10th anniversary and is established as the longest-running mobile game in its category developed in Latin America, marking a new milestone for the company's history and for the Latin American video game industry. Along with a journey through the game's main moments in time, Word Crack fans will be able to access a series of surprises inside and outside the game to continue promoting entertainment accompanied by a constant invitation to sharpen minds by connecting with other people.

Before 2011, scoring points by forming words in Spanish and crossing them on a board had never been so potentially global. It was that year that Word Crack became the first mobile game developed by etermax and also the first casual and social word game created in Latin America.

In addition to promoting strategic thinking and mathematical skills, its pioneering social component was the main novelty at the time in hispanic markets thanks to the possibility of playing with people from all over the world, chatting with rivals, saving the opponents list to challenge them again or carrying multiple games simultaneously, and thus building a virtual community with more than 100 million historical downloads.

"Word Crack was not only the first game we developed, but also one of the first mobile tools in Spanish to connect people from several countries in the world with an entertaining and challenging proposal. It went from being a popular app to a huge sensation", says Maximo Cavazzani, CEO and founder of etermax. "We are proud to see that our games last in time, but above all that they are chosen because they entertain, promote knowledge and connection with others, and we hope they add value to society and to culture."

Since its launch, Word Crack has especially stood out in Spanish-speaking countries. In Spain, for example, it was installed in 1 out of every 2 smartphones and has a loyal fan base in players over 55 who help position it in the first place of the most popular games.

In 2012, the year after its release, it was featured as App Store’s Best Game, Best New Game and one of the best free apps on the App Store. It also surpassed its own records when it achieved more than 1.5 million active users per day, 1,000 downloads per hour, 100 million words played per month, and marked more than 92 million messages per month in its pioneering chat.

It is currently available on Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS) in 18 languages and also has a line of board games.

Word Crack - Asynchronous, cross-platform, multi-player game

To start a new game, the user must click the button at the bottom of the screen. Then, they can choose an opponent among their friends, searching for them through their email address or with their username. They can also choose to face a random opponent. In addition, the player can select what vocabulary they want to be challenged with in that game from 18 languages.

The first word formed on the board is located on the star cell in the center, and the words formed in the future must be connected to the words already created. With the correct placement of the tiles, they can create more than one word at a time, just by dragging the tiles, using the letters on the rack and adding points! If the word is not valid, players can try again. By confirming their word and tapping “send” when they are done, their shift ends.

If the player places words in the special cells, they can get many points, doubling and even tripling them per letter or word formed. If they use the 7 tiles on their rack in a single play they will get a bonus. They can also make use of the aids (power-ups) that give them more opportunities in the game.

The winner will be the one with the most points in the game. But be careful: the game will expire after 7 days of inactivity and the winner will be whoever formed the last word. The game also ends early if players pass their turn three times in a row.
