Gafgar Davallius's Blog

I usually go by the name Gafgar on most places, or Gafgar D in the rare cases it's already taken.

I'm an Ex-Coilworks Co-Founder, Creative Director and Programmer, and now a Coffee Stain Studios employee as a Programmer where I've mostly been focusing on performance and network optimizations for Satisfactory so far.

I have experience of both low level and high level programming, writing both gameplay code, tools and a cross platform engine from scratch with a few colleagues, but now mostly working in Unreal Engine 4.

I have interest in pretty much all fields of game development, across the board.

Though programming is my main field, I also have experience in art and design. As I designinged most gameplay mechanics of Coilworks' games, such as Cloudbuilt and Super Cloudbuilt, but also did some art work there as well, including some character art, effects and animations. My sound design experience is much more limited, but I created a few of the sound effects or did remixes of previous ones for those games too. Hope to get more experience with that some day.

I'm constantly looking for opportunities to grow and trying to stay on top of what I can in terms of new developments. So sites like Gamasutra is great for that, though I've not created an account till now, I'm a long time reader/lurker.

We recently released our second big Update for Satisfactory and one of the things we improved is network performance. Running huge factory simulations over the network poses a unique challenge and I'm here to share our approach on solving it.

Sorry, that is not related ...

Sorry, that is not related to the topic at hand and nothing I can sadly comment on. I 'm a programmer here, and the store front and distribution is not my place to comment on. Please keep comments relevant to the article or at at least fields related to it ...
