Kim Kupiainen's Blog

Hi! I'm Kim Kupiainen, A 30 year old producer student currently living in Finland, studying game production in Kajaani University Of Applied Sciences. I started my career as an artist working for Virtual Dawn, Bitecore and some other small Indie companies.
I have worked as a Game Producer on multiple game projects including Junkships, Bounce Rescue!, Color, Tag & Survive, and a bunch of prototype games.

My passion for games started when I was a child. I played Games & Programmed on C64 and found a lifelong interest in game development and technology. I love working with creative, passionate people to make the industry a better place to work in and most of all, create amazing experiences and long-lasting memories for players around the world.

In my work, I believe in sharing information and facilitating communication. With right questions and pipelines we'll get the right results. Needless to say that team leadership and project management skills are a must to do a proper job in game development.

I have many titles, but I digress. What I personally appreciate is the feedback that I get from the individuals I work with.

Having worked with Kim in two separate projects, I've learned he is first and foremost a passionate leader. You can always count on Kim having your back and really listening your problems. He always seeks to resolve the underlying issues in order to cut long-term losses, instead of going the easy route. Kim has a strong passion for game developing and you can trust on him giving his 100% from start of a project till very end.

As a producer Kim is the heart of the team. In his teams there has always been a welcoming and very productive atmosphere. Most importantly though, Kim always seeks to improve his working methods, seeing the lesson in each problem he and his team encounters. Last but not least, Kim is a great musician and sound designer. It's impossible to not like a man with love for post rock :)

I am here to post research and post-mortem materials I do, because as said, sharing is important. And as a mentor for my peers and younger students, I think there is a possibility, I can give anyone something, and with your feedback, I myself will be learning more!
