THQ has announced that it will release MX vs ATV Untamed, the latest edition of its motocross and ATV off road racing franchise, for multiple consoles and handhelds in January 2008.

With versions announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PlayStation 2, as well as for the DS and PSP, THQ described the release as the largest cross-platform launch in the franchises history. In addition, THQ hopes that the game's widespread release will help to significantly grow its share of the racing game market.

According to the company, MX vs ATV Untamed will feature larger, more open environments than previous iterations, as well as eight vehicles and new game modes. Chief among the modes is what THQ calls the game's EnduroCross mode, which is designed to illustrate the power of franchises Rhythm Racing physics engine by forcing players to navigate through courses littered with logs, rocks, and mud-pits.

Weve taken the core MX vs ATV racing experience and tailored game-play to match the strengths of each individual gaming machine, said Jack Sorenson, executive vice president of worldwide studios, THQ. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Wii and PlayStation 2 system versions, the PSP system version, and the DS version will all deliver unique experiences that capture the franchises strengths and maximize the fun gamers have on their system of choice.
