Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide.

This week's charts, with data taken from January 22nd, 2009, see Wii Fit dominating worldwide Wii charts, as Fallout 3 tops PS3 software sales in Japan and Left 4 Dead leads Japanese results on the Xbox 360 and PC platforms.

Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows:

Nintendo Wii
North America: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. Wii Play (Nintendo), 4. Active Life: Outdoor Challenge (Namco Bandai), 5. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (LucasArts).

Japan: 1. Taiko no Tatsujin Wii (Namco), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo (Namco), 4. Wii de Asobu: Mario Tennis GC (Nintendo), 5. Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou (Kadokawa Shoten).

Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii remain at the top of the North American multiplatform sales charts, seemingly unstoppable in the post-holiday season. Namco's exercise mat-bundled Active Life: Outdoor Challenge returns to the top five this week, meanwhile, as does Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

Taiko no Tatsujin keeps its place atop the Japanese sales charts, meanwhile, as the recent releases Fragile: Sayonara Tsuki no Haikyo and Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou square off against Wii de Asobu: Mario Tennis GC.

Xbox 360
North America: 1. Call of Duty: World at War (Activision), 2. Gears of War 2 (Microsoft), 3. Left 4 Dead (EA Games), 4. Fable II (Microsoft), 5. Skate 2 (EA Games).

Left 4 Dead also performs well in Japan, where it finishes as the region's best-selling Xbox 360 title in its first week of release. Fallout 3 takes second in Japanese sales, while last week's leader Race Driver: GRID drops out of the top five entirely.
