The organizers of the Texas Independent Game Conference (unrelated to the CMP Game Group's independent games events) have announced the first ever iteration of this Austin event, which will occur over the weekend of July 22nd/23rd.
It is intended as an environment where independent game developers can get together and discuss, investigate and explore issues relevant to them, and is organized by former Game Initiative (Austin Game Conference) producer Steve Farrer.
The 2 day event will feature three tracks and keynote presentations, plus a preview pavilion where developers can demo their latest work, and a dedicated vendor area. Thus far confirmed is Manifesto Games' Greg Costikyan as a keynote speaker for the conference.
"As developers and gamers struggle with the divergence between the resource rich and the resource poor, between playing it safe and pushing the boundaries of creativity and between the "sequel" and real innovation, we need to get back to basics in many ways and I hope the gathering in Austin in July can contribute to that process", said Steve Farrer, Director of the Texas Independent Game Conference.
More information on the event will be available at the conference's official website
in the near future.
