Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH released an update for its Cubase and Cubase Studio music production/recording software, adding support for new and upcoming hardware as well as introducing media management format VST Sound.
The 4.5 update provides support for upcoming hardware like the Steinberg MR816 CSX/X and CC121 Advanced Integration Controller. Cubase 4.5 also offers increased support for the Yamaha MOTIF XS series and the KX USB Music Studio series.
In addition, the update introduces VST Sound, a new universal media management format integral to Steinberg's VST3 standard. To accompany the new format, Cubase 4.5 features VST Sound Collection Vol. 1, a 1.6 GB library of new sounds and 45 new instruments, such as Yamaga's S90ES Grand for HALion One.
The software now includes drums, basses, guitars and other instruments by Sonic Reality, as well as 250 loops by Big Fish Audio. Furthermore, Cubase 4.5 supports Steinberg's entry-level Sequel 2 Music Creation and Performance Software and its Rock, Hip Hop and Industrial Sequel Content Sets.
"Cubase 4.5 is an important update that expands Cubase to add even more value for our customers," says Helge Vogt, Steinberg's product marketing manager for Cubase. "With new technologies and many under-the-hood enhancements, this update significantly enhances Cubase as a state-of-the-art music production system, and reflects our ongoing commitment to our customers and expanding the world of Cubase."
