A trilogy of titles from Rockstar Games' urban crimes series Grand Theft Auto
is now available for the Macintosh.
The release, composed of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas,
and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
, is available to download via TransGaming's Mac gaming portal GameTreeMac.com
, and will be on sale in retail outlets across North America from November 22.
"The Grand Theft Auto series has been one of the most highly demanded titles by the Mac community," said Vikas Gupta, president & CEO of TransGaming. "These games will be widely available and will be a great catalyst to the increasing popularity of gaming on the Mac."
Grand Theft Auto III
was the first title in the series to be realized in 3D, breaking ground with its open world and cinematic storyline upon release in 2001. Follow-up Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
revisited a Miami-esque metropolis from the 1980s, charting the rise of one Tommy Vercetti through the ranks of the criminal underworld.
Finally, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
introduced the largest map of the series, one containing three sizable cities, explored by player character Carl Johnson as he returns home to San Andreas after learning of the mysterious events surrounding a death in the family.
