AIAS Opens Submissions For Randy Pausch And Mark Beaumont Scholarship Funds

AIAS Opens Submissions For Randy Pausch And Mark Beaumont Scholarship Funds

April 6, 2011 | By Tom Curtis

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has announced it is now accepting submissions for two scholarship funds that support students pursuing a career in game development or business.

The organization's Randy Pausch scholarship offers $2,500 to two students pursuing careers in art, animation, programming, engineering, game direction, game design, sound design, or music composition. The fund honors the memory of the late Carnegie Mellon University professor and co-founder of the school's entertainment technology center.

The Mark Beaumont scholarship also offers two scholarships of $2,500 to students specializing in executive leadership, law, marketing, public relations, and business development. This scholarship honors the former COO of Capcom North America and Europe, who passed away in February of 2010

In order to qualify for either scholarship, students must maintain at least a 3.3 GPA as a full-time student, and attend an accredited college or university during the 2011-2012 school year.

“The AIAS Foundation is pleased to continue supporting students who are pursuing a degree and career in interactive entertainment,” said Martin Rae, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. “Randy Pausch and Mark Beaumont made a huge mark in their respective fields, and we hope our scholarship recipients will do the same one day.”

The AIAS will accept submissions until June 30, 2011, and more details are available via the organization's website.
