[Every week, IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor Tim W. will be summing up some of the top free-to-download and commercial indie games from the last seven days on his sister 'state of indie' weblog.]
This week on 'Best Of Indie Games', we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week.
The delights in this edition include a retro-styled 2D platformer, a browser-based zombie game, an arcade title for your iOS device, and a DigiPen student project about digging towards the center of the earth.
Here's the highlights from the last seven days:
Game Pick: 'Oniken'
(Danilo Dias and Pedro Paiva, freeware)
is a retro-styled platformer that harks back to the NES era with its visuals, music and difficulty levels. Developers Danilo Dias and Pedro Paiva call it 'NES hard', and we're inclined to agree."
Game Pick: 'Zombotron'
(Ant Karlov, browser)
"As a Bio-Robot, you find yourself tasked with eliminating an undead threat and will spend most of your time wandering a surprisingly lovely subterranean world. Zombies are stupid, have heads that pop off in the most charming way possible and will fling themselves into pits to get to you."
Game Pick: 'Electro Chuck'
(App Solution, commercial indie)
"You are Electro Chuck
, a fish-like creature with a hole through his body. By tilting your iPhone, you need to make sure the electric wire stays right in the middle of his body and doesn't touch him. Along the way there are enemies riding along the wire and special bonuses to grab over a series of 40 levels."
Game Pick: 'Dig-N-Rig'
is an amazing DigiPen student project game that puts you in control of Diggit 6400, a mining robot that has several digging tools at its disposal. Your task here is to dig all the way to the center of the earth, mining and collecting minerals along the way so that better equipment can be purchased from the lab."
Game Pick: 'Space Parasite'
is a fast-paced, combo-driven arcade title developed in part by Andy Wolff. You are a space-bound disease that must float around and infect as many aliens as possible in a short space of time."
