Amazon today launched a new easy log-in service for iOS and Android games and apps, which it says developers can use to drive higher engagement and order conversion.
"Login with Amazon" is similar to services already offered by the likes of Facebook and Google, by which users can instantly log-in to a game and spend money using an existing trusted account, rather than a separate account for each specific game.
After logging into a game using Login with Amazon, the user can then choose whether to share their account profile information with the game -- again, much like Facebook's current system.
Amazon has already been trialling the system within a couple of its subsidiaries. The company said that its Zappos subsidiary saw 40 percent of new customers signing in using their Amazon account, and noted that these customers had the highest rate of order conversion.
You can choose to integrate Login with Amazon into your game or app for free, and Amazon says the integration can take a matter of hours. The service is based on the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework.
Any developers interested in reading more about the new system can do so on the Amazon website
