The Witness could beat Braid's first-year sales in just one week

The Witness could beat Braid's first-year sales in just one week
February 1, 2016 | By Chris Kerr

Jonathan Blow's critically acclaimed puzzler, The Witness, which took seven years to develop, is on track to sell more in a week than his previous title, Braid, sold in its first year, according to Blow.

Speaking on Twitter, Blow confirmed he was referring to the game's performance on Steam, PS4, and Humble, adding that he was talking about the amount of revenue The Witness has brought in, not the number of copies sold. The game sells for $40.

Although he couldn't mention specific figures, Blow did reveal that due to the immediate success of The Witness his next game is well on its way to being funded, and that he should be able to make it using a "comparable budget."

While year one sales figures aren't available for Braid, back in 2014 Blow revealed that the game had made $4 million in revenue.
