Acquired by Riot, Radiant shuts down Rising Thunder

Acquired by Riot, Radiant shuts down Rising Thunder

March 8, 2016 | By Alex Wawro

League of Legends maker Riot Games has acquired Radiant Entertainment, the California-based indie venture founded in 2013 by fighting game community luminaries Tom & Tony Cannon, for an undisclosed sum.

What's interesting here is that Radiant already has two games in development: the crowdfunded Early Access game Stonehearth and the free-to-play robot fighting game Rising Thunder.

In a blog post on Radiant's website today the Cannon brothers confirmed that they plan to continue developing Stonehearth, but the Rising Thunder team (which includes fighting gamesman Seth Killian) will be starting work on a new project.

That means Rising Thunder, which has been in alpha testing for some time, will be shut down next Friday, March 18th. Gamasutra has confirmed the studio has no plans to return to the project in the foreseeable future.
