Warner Bros. Interactive takes over Rocket League retail distribution

October 26, 2017 | By Chris Kerr

Warner Bros. Interactive is replacing 505 Games as Rocket League's physical distributor, and will help developer Psyonix bring an 'updated retail version' to PS4 and Xbox One later this year.

The jet-fuelled soccer effort was first granted a physical release in the summer of 2016, with that boxed version of the game going on to sell over 1 million copies

505 Games, which has previously brought other digital titles like Terraria and Stardew Valley to retail, was on hand to help back then, but its partnership with Psyonix has seemingly come to an end.

"Warner Bros. has already proven to be a great partner," said Jeremy Dunham, VP of publishing at Psyonix.

"We first collaborated on Batman v Superman DLC for Rocket League in early 2016 and we have continued to be impressed with the team’s knowledge, professionalism, reach and enthusiasm for video games. They are the ideal partner to help us push Rocket League to another level at retail."
