The Nintendo Switch has become the fastest-selling home console of all time in the U.S. after selling over 4.8 million units in 10 months.
The news comes straight from Nintendo, and according to the company's internal sales figures the Switch is outpacing the immensely popular Wii, which pulled in 4 million sales during its first 10 months on shelves.
"Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go," said Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime.
"Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond."
The Switch has already sold over 10 million units worldwide since launching on March 3, 2017, and Nintendo expects to see that figure rise to 14 million by the end of the fiscal year.
What's more, the Japanese console maker reportedly believes it can sell another 20 million consoles during the next financial year, which would put the Switch on track to smash the 30 million sales mark within two years of launch.
