Kinect Fun Labs Entertainment Apps Live Today

Kinect Fun Labs Entertainment Apps Live Today

June 6, 2011 | By Frank Cifaldi

Microsoft launched a series of Kinect-enabled entertainment applications over its Xbox Live service Monday, including a photo recognition Avatar maker, an object scanner, and an art app.

Kinect Me is the name of the Kinect Fun Labs app that allows users to create Avatars using photo recognition.

Kinect Sparkler enables users to create 3D images with a "sparking" effect using intricate finger tracking.

Finally, Googly Eyes allows users to scan in real world objects and create 3D representations of them on screen. This was demoed in a press conference using a stuffed toy, but other applications suggested include scanning "your favorite car" to "drive it around the track."

Kinect Fun Labs was announced just this morning, and will be available on Xbox Live today, the company said.
