Game Creation magazine publisher China GC Networks has announced that, with the support of CMP Game Group [which runs Gamasutra.com] and Washington State Department of Community Trade & Economic Development, it is organizing a Chinese game trade mission to the U.S. this month.
The delegation is comprised of executives and VPs from China's top game companies, including game developers, outsourcing houses, and major online game operators. This mission will bring China's top game developers and online game operators to the US to meet with their potential technology and business partners.
The focus of the mission is to match those Chinese game companies with qualified US technology partners, agents, game publishers and console manufacturers. According to the parties involved, China's gaming industry is forecast to expand from $105 million (2004) to $2 billion (2007) due to the rapid adoption of technology and improved lifestyle in China.
The delegation is scheduled to visit San Jose, CA from March 21 to 25 to attend Game Developers Conference (GDC) and visit several Bay area game companies. After GDC it will visit Seattle, WA from March 26 to 28 to attend an event hosted by Washington State Department of Community Trade & Economic Development and visit several Seattle area game companies.
The delegation will be looking at opportunities in publishing and operating Chinese-made games, especially MMOGs, in the U.S., publishing and operating U.S.-made games, especially MMOGs, in China, technology and tools, and localization and other business services.
