A common response to mums and dads letting their children play older rated games is that they should take a more active role in the choosing and playing of games in the house. But this is not as straight forward as it first appears.

There is a wealth of information online to help parents make informed decisions about the games their children play. However this can be hard to find and time consuming to read through. Also, these usually focus on the negative aspects of gaming that children may be sensitive to rather than explaining the positives and address the developer’s history, game genre and themes.

This independent series of “2 Minute Guides” offers parents a complete run down of what’s great and what to watch out for in new video-games. We draw on information from PEGI, Games Rating Authority consumer information, ESRB, Common Sense Media and professional journalists, and delivers all this in 2 minutes with game-play of each aspect on screen.

Andy Robertson, producer of the series “These new 2 minute guide extend the mission of Family Gamer TV to help families make informed choices about video-games and get biggest benefit out of the games they play with fewer surprises.”

The first games we are covering is The Last of Us Remastered: with more following each week as new games are released. Parents can follow the videos in the playlist:
