Sunday October 14th marks the 952nd anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. It proved not only decisive in the Norman invasion of England, but a cultural turning point that changed the face of Britain forever.

Depicting scenes recorded using the strategy game A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA, the British studio Creative Assembly have made a short documentary charting the rise and fall of the Anglo Saxons, between Alfred the Great’s victory over the Viking invaders at the battle of Edington, to King Harold’s demise at the Battle of Hastings.

You can view it here:

The documentary also contains interview footage with Dr Neil McGuigan of the University of St. Andrews, who supported the game’s development with his expansive knowledge of the period, and Jack Lusted, THRONES OF BRITANNIA’s game director.

THRONES OF BRITANNIA plunges players into a defining moment in the history of the British Isles, and the turbulent times following Alfred the Great’s victory over the Viking invaders at the Battle of Edington in 878 AD. Playing as the Vikings, Gaelic clans, Welsh tribes or Anglo-Saxons, players will embark on epic campaigns of empire-building and conquest across the most detailed Total War map to date.

A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA is available on Steam.
