The South Korean game show PlayX4 opened with a bang at the KINTEX Exhibition Hall in Gyeonggido province on May 9th, lasting 3 days to the 12th. The main areas of the exhibition were the B2B and B2C zones, with exhibits including console, mobile, arcade and VR games. This year, Taipei Game Show (hereafter TGS) led 4 Taiwanese game companies to showcase a Taiwan Pavilion in the B2B zone of PlayX4, and also visited some famous Korean game companies at the same time, such as Gravity, Pangsky and Xsolla.

The Taiwan delegation includes PWB Play Entertainment, a game publisher with rich experience publishing in the Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau areas; NoBug Games, a team of university students passionate about video games; WOWWOW Lab, the masters of 3D animation design and AR/VR experiences; and FLA Game Studio, which brings together gaming R&A and online creative marketing.

Korean Gamers Crazy for Large-Scale VR Games – Immersive Experience the Highlight at Expo

At this year’s event, PWB Play Entertainment showcased several popular works published under its banner. There was “Honkai Impact 3rd,” which won the 2016 TapTap annual award for best visuals; the aesthetically pleasing MMORPG “Ancient Legend,” based off the Chinese “Classic of Mountains and Seas” myth; and “Shining Nikki,” which has won the hearts of many female gamers for its synthesis of 3D graphics, exquisitely detailed costumes, and social networking. With its RPG game “Liang” (meaning “sprite” or “fairy”), NoBug Games has created a world of Taiwanese folk beliefs and legends. The rich background with its strong cultural imagery were a big hit with the trade visitors who wanted to try their hand at the different fighting methods and storylines, which allow the main character to work its way through their own storyline.

WOWWOW Labs’ “Buy or Die,” a mix of virtual reality and multi battle, with its casual gaming-focused play mode caught the attention of local VR game emulation operating company VRCARVER. This is how it nailed down a cooperative MOU and also started deliberating plans for future publishing in Korea. FLA Game Studio’s “Gospel of Satan” is a TCG specially designed for phones. The game characters are equipped with their own particular sets of attack and defense systems, battle colors, and card elements so that the player is required to think even more strategically. The team’s current annual goal is to actively expand its overseas market and accumulate feedback from companies in the gaming industry to become a basis for optimizing its games.
