St. Catharines, Ontario – 14 February 2020 – Rocketship Park, the Niagara-based video game development studio committed to the creation of uniquely emotive games, has today revealed the first details of their next project. LOVE - A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories is a game that creates opportunities for empathy and reflection, as well as moments of classic head-scratching puzzle goodness. In support of today’s announcement, Rocketship Park has released a trailer showcasing LOVE’s gameplay and mood, and has made the game available to wishlist on Steam. LOVE - A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories is scheduled for a late 2020 release on both PC and Mac.

LOVE is the ultimate realization of our design philosophy at Rocketship Park,” said Shane McCafferty, lead designer and studio co-founder. “Great games are designed to trigger a specific feeling in players, and this approach has been the cornerstone of every project that I’ve led the creation of. In LOVE, we’re looking to create a very specific, even discordant emotion within our players. We’re not interested in love, so much as the warm corner of sadness that comes with it; the challenge of letting go of our past.”

LOVE is an experiment in storytelling that combines the rich experience of a diorama with puzzles inspired by point-and-click adventures. Players manipulate each floor of an apartment building to move it back and forth through time, and in doing so, will learn the past and present stories of the people that live inside. Through careful interactions and narrative puzzle-solving, players will help LOVE’s characters alter the moments in their past that have given them cause for regret, allowing them to live a more engaged life in the present.

LOVE is a game that explores the many kinds of relationships we have in our lives and the heartfelt pangs that come with their absence,” added McCafferty. “LOVE tells people that it’s okay to feel sad -- and it’s also okay to start feeling better.”

To create LOVE’s unique look and style, Rocketship Park collaborated with PixelNAUTS to develop the game’s art and animations. PixelNAUTS, like Rocketship Park, is a studio located in the heart of Niagara’s emergent game development community. The company is best known for its stylish dodge’em-up Lost Orbit: Terminal Velocity, as well as its visual contributions to Compulsion Games’ critically-acclaimed Contrast

LOVE was made possible with the generous support of Ontario Creates, a provincial agency that facilitates economic development, investment and collaboration in Ontario’s creative industries including the music, book, magazine, film, television and interactive digital media sectors.

LOVE - A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories is now available to add to Steam Wishlist, and will be available for purchase on PC and Mac later this year. For more information, visit thatlovegame.com.
