LOUISVILLE, Colo. -- Pavonis Interactive, the video game studio founded by the team behind the acclaimed Long War mods for the XCOM series, today launched its Kickstarter for Terra Invicta, its first independently developed title.

Terra Invicta is a grand strategy game for PC and is planned for release in Summer 2021. Set in the modern day, it simulates the geopolitics of an alien invasion of Earth and features space exploration and space warfare in the Solar System as humanity tries to mount a defense. Players must contend with both alien infiltrators as well as pro-alien human groups as they vie for control of the Earth.

The Kickstarter has a goal of U.S. $20,000 that is intended to augment funding provided by several angel investors and its Dallas-based startup publisher, Hooded Horse.

Pavonis was founded as Long War Studios in 2015 by the hobbyists who led the team that developed the Long War mod for 2012’s XCOM Enemy Unknown. The company was hired by 2K Games in 2015 to develop release-day mods for XCOM 2, and then an overhaul mod, Long War 2. Its work has been praised in multiple industry outlets, including PC Gamer, Wired, Kotaku and Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

“We have earned a reputation for deep strategy in our work, and Terra Invicta will be no exception,” said John Lumpkin, Pavonis’ CEO and Terra Invicta’s creative director. “We think we have a story that hasn’t quite been told in this form before, and we’re thrilled to be sharing some of it with our fans.”

Terra Invicta entered full production in 2017. It is available for wishlisting on Steam.
