Milan, Wednesday, June 23 - The Italian Interactive Digital Entertainment Association is today proud and happy to announce the final list of nominations for this year's Italian Video Game Awards (IVGAs). IIDEA is working with its long-term partner, the Tuscan Film Commission, to stage the event in the region as part of Italy’s 2021 First Playable line-up.

The IVGAs will be a live, in-person ceremony that takes place on July 1 from the prestigious surroundings of the Museum of Ancient Ships, Pisa, and will be streamed to a global audience on Twitch. This is a welcome departure from the 2020 ceremony, which took place online due to the global pandemic, and an important step for IIDEA as they bring the sector back together after a year of separation. This year’s event will be co-hosted by RaiNews 24 ’s Dario Marchetti - who will be there in person in Tuscany, and British journalist, Aoife Wilson - who after a successful 2020 ceremony will again lend her co-presenting expertise via a live stream.

The panel of seven industry veterans and professionals combines years of industry experience and knowledge about what makes videogames stand out.

The organisation of the IVGA ceremony and panel of jurors follows the recent publication of the fifth biennial Italian Census by IIDEA and IDG Consulting. The census data, which was released last month, revealed an extremely young, buoyant and optimistic sector, which has shown positive growth in 2020 despite the global pandemic. The list of nominees for 2021’s IVGAs and prestigious international jury provide further evidence of the strength, breadth and creativity of the Italian sector.

Thalita Malago, Director General of IIDEA offered her congratulations to the entrants and nominees:

“Our objective with the IVGAs is to celebrate and champion games that have the Made in Italy stamp, and bring them to a wider global audience.

The pool of games that fed into the final nominees represents the depth and breadth of Italy's creative output, and the fact that we were able to put together such a prestigious panel of judges says something about the quality of the Italian games which launched during the last year.

We’re grateful and honoured that the judges wanted to be part of the IVGAs and thank them for their time, effort and impartiality during the judging process and also want to wish the best of luck to all the nominees.”

Stefania Ippoliti - offered a warm welcome to Tuscany - virtually and in real life:

“We are looking forward to welcoming the very best Italian gaming talent to Tuscany for the IVGA ceremony at our beautiful Museum of Ancient Ships on July 1, and virtually for First Playable. We hope people will remember this remarkable region when we finally open our doors and in the meantime we congratulate the videogame sector for its resilience and success.”

The Italian Video Game Awards are being sponsored by Xsolla, and their Business Head - Eugene Maleev joined the panel of judges as part of the partnership.

Talking about the IVGAs, he said:

“We intend to virtually bring together the brightest minds in video game development and publishing, offer access to the best trade shows and conferences, and invite subject matter experts to add their voice to key discussions and newsletters. Now more than ever, our industry needs to connect, talk about success stories, compare notes, and share best practices.”
