Lee Moyer
Art Director
Digital Addiction
Laurel, MD

[visit site]

Artist Summary:
Drawing inspiration from American illustrators like NC Wyeth and Maxfield Parrish, Lee conjures stunning, and sometimes frightening visions.

Current Project:
Sanctum, an online strategy game. For details see www.digitaladdiction.com.
Credits:
Sanctum, Mythos, Deadlands, On the Edge, Over the Edge, The Doom that Came to Atlantic City, Supernova and Event Horizon.
Bio:
As a founding member of Digital Addiction, Lee has singlehandedly created the interface and hundreds of card illustrations for Sanctum, the company’s first game. This online strategy game is due in early July. This builds on his earlier work for card games (Mythos, Deadlands, On the Edge, Supernova and Event Horizon) as well as his experience in computer games and web design.

His first job was the 1983 video Don't Answer Me. The subsequent 15 years have included book, magazine, comic, game and album covers; portraits; cartoons; logos; cards; scupture; murals; installations; bas relief; interior decorating and faux finishing.

Clients include: Chaosium Inc, Atlas Games, McGraw Hill, The National Zoo, Henninger Design [and] Effects, Dark Horse Comics, The National Museum of Natural History, Black Entertainment Television, Edelman Worldwide, Broadcast Arts, Byron Preiss, RFK Memorial, Second City, Magnet Interactive, The Discovery Channel, and Philips Interactive.

An illustrator (Photoshop, Bryce, Poser, oil, watercolor, ink, acrylic, scratchboard), web-designer, teacher, writer, portraitist, sculptor, carver, game designer and scientific illustrator.

He has never missed a deadline.
Inspiration:
I am inspired by my wife, my artist friends (Mike Kaluta, Steve Hickman, Beryl Bush, Charles Vess, Paul Komoda, Dawn Wilson). All the greats of American Illustration (NC Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, JC Leyendecker, Howard Pyle, Jon R Neill, Arthur Rackham) and the Victorians (Hunt, Rossetti, Alma-Tadema, Waterhouse, Whistler et al)
Favorite Game Art:
I love D A Trampier's early work for TSR, Maddocks and Tedin's work on Magic, and Rick Berry's work where ever it appears.
Why I Got into the Industry:
As a life-long game lover (Scrabble, Chess, Cathedral, Arcana, Othello), and a lover of classical illustration and mythology, the Game Industry is where I want to be. I illustrated for all manner of tabletop and live roleplaying games before starting CD Rom and On-line games.
Tools I Can't Live Without:
Adobe Photoshop allows me the freedom to make mistakes, and the more mistakes I make, the better my work becomes. I've learned more about painting using Photoshop than by painting traditionally.
Music I Listen to While Working:
Stan Ridgway, Randy Newman, Danny Elfman, The Mavericks, and lots of soundtracks
