Mobile: Actionscript.it Announces Mobile Game Contest

Italian Flash news and information site actionscript.it has announced a call for submissions to its second annual Mobile Game Contest, sponsored by Jamba, Adobe, and O'Reilly, with a January 29, 2007 deadline.

Noting the persistent popularity of J2ME despite FlashLite's growth, this year the contest will also include a dedicated J2ME category. Prizes for the FlashLite submissions will include Flash Studio 8, an IRiver 2G media player, and books from the O’Reilly library, while J2ME prizes include a Nokia N93 handset, an IRiver 2G, as well as O'Reilly books. All games will be reviewed by the Jamba marketing department, and will be considered for distribution with a revenue sharing contract.

Games will be judged primarily on their overall originality, but also on playability, complexity, usability, design, and performance. This year's judges include Alessandro Crugnola, Andrea Trento, Ivan Zambanello, Giuseppe Sorce, Daniele Vergini, Giorgio Natili, Mariam Dholkawala, Adam Abramsky, Ares Hovhannesyan, Federico Trazza, and Edoardo Schepis.

The contest advises that games fall into the following categories: word games, puzzles, strategy, arcade, adventure, driving, shooting, sports, platformers, or casino games.
