Representatives from AGEIA Technologies have announced an agreement with developer BioWare (Mass Effect) to include AGEIA's PhysX technology into BioWare's forthcoming BioWare Eclipse Engine, the engine that drives the company's next-generation console and PC titles.

The AGEIA PhysX technology utilizes the first dedicated hardware physics processor to power pervasive real-time interactive worlds that obey the laws of classical physics. AGEIA provides developers with a cross platform software development kit to simplify advanced physics programming for the PhysX processor, as well next-generation gaming consoles.

Long in development but yet to be behind any formally announced BioWare game titles, the Eclipse Engine is the latest in a line of internally developed engines, and will be powering the developer's next-gen console and PC titles.

“There’s no reason to reinvent the wheel when you have a world-class, easy-to-implement physics solution such as AGEIA PhysX technology,” said BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka. “AGEIA PhysX will deliver mind-blowing physics action for games using BioWare’s next-generation game engine.”
