CacheLogic has announced the release of VelociX for Games, a peer-assisted content delivery network optimized for the delivery of large, multi-gigabyte files. The CDN was first shown at Game Developers Conference, and provides a fast and cost-effective way of distributing demos, games and updates.

VelociX features a P2P backend combined with CacheLogic's low latency network and allows developers and publishers to control the speed and delivery method of content, providing the choice to use, for example, slower speeds for older demos and a higher speed for critical patches.

CacheLogic CTO Andrew Parker comments that the CDN provides publishers with “all the tools, speed and control they need to really generate value for their users while simultaneously controlling costs”.

“By fusing P2P technology into our CDN,” he continues, “we can deliver unprecedented speed with predictable cost, and we are very excited to be showcasing VelociX at GDC.”
