Electronic Arts Delays Army Of Two Into 2008

Electronic Arts has announced that it is delaying the release of the EA Montreal-developed Army Of Two into 2008.
As part of a statement disseminated to the media and picked up by the Reuters news agency, EA indicated that the game needed more polish time before its completion.
Specifically, Gibeau - who heads up the EA Games division of the publishing giant - commented: "Army of Two has potential to become a lasting EA franchise -- so getting the first title right is essential."
The game, which has been discussed in detail in an earlier Gamasutra interview with EA Montreal's Chris Ferriera, has a military contractor-themed setting and gameplay set around a duo of characters helping each other out within the game world.
Talking to Reuters, Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter suggested that the title would have contributed $54 million in revenue to EA's quarter ending in December, commenting: "It's an important game for them if they hope to establish it as a franchise... It shouldn't have much of an impact, but the market always seems to assume the worst about the company."
