Game network WildTangent has announced WildTangent Orb, an application it hope will bring a console experience to PCs with a unified interface and major publisher support already in place.

The software offers a full-screen user interface and a game pad-enabled experience to enthusiast gamers. Sierra Online, THQ, and other leading game publishers have already agreed to add WildTangent Orb compatibility to their AAA games.

WildTangent will offer a free WildTangent Orb upgrade to its network users starting April. The company also plans to have the software pre-installed on every major-brand consumer PC from companies like HP, Gateway, and Toshiba by the second half of 2008.

"The WildTangent Orb turns any modern PC into a full-featured game console more powerful than any next generation game console including the Microsoft XBOX 360, Sony PS3 or Nintendo Wii," said Alex St. John, CEO of WildTangent. "Now enthusiast gamers can download and play popular console games they love on the most ubiquitous gaming device available today: the PC."
