Ubisoft has announced Play Zone, a new Wii-exclusive division devoted to creating new party- and mini-game titles, starting with Sports Party, a collection of nine sports mini-games including basketball, horseshoes and croquet.

The game, due for release in July 2008, will feature three difficulty levels for its nine games that can be played head-to-head or cooperatively, and make full use of the Wii's unique gesture controls. The collection will include: three different basketball mini-games, croquet, lawn darts, badminton, volley-ball, horse shoes and mini-golf.

Thus far no further titles from the Play Zone division have been detailed, other than to say the games "will provide immediate entertainment and recreation thanks to original and numerous mini-games to be shared by all family members and friends."

Said Ubisoft EMEA marketing director John Parkes, "With our new Play Zone party titles, the Wii gamers who like to spend time with friends and family will have fun with the Wii through innovative and involving mini-games. The Play Zone label will provide them with the best games to mingle and compete together in a fun and friendly atmosphere."
