Nintendo, FujiFilm Offer Photo Printing, Business Cards Through Wii Channel

Nintendo has partnered with FujiFilm to launch the Digital Camera Print Channel, a new service for Japanese Wii consoles that allows users to order prints of their online photos, as well as business cards featuring a user's Mii avatar.

Users can transfer photos to the console from digital cameras and cell phones, and design the products using template sets provided in the new channel, placing orders directly through the new interface.

The current list of offerings include individual photo prints costing 30 yen ($0.28) each, two types of bound photo books -- a 20 page square booklet for 1575 yen ($14.80), and a larger 6 page booklet for 2480 yen ($23.30) -- and a set of 30 business cards for 500 yen ($4.70).

Thus far there has been no word from the company on whether the service might be released to other territories. Nintendo released a firmware update for U.S. consoles at the same time as the announcement, but thus far the only change reported is an apparently unrelated incremental version update to the Wii Photo Channel.
