Blizzard Entertainment announced that World of Warcraft subscribership now exceeds 11 million players worldwide since the MMORPG's launch in November 2004.

The company notes that World of Warcraft was the bestselling PC game of 2005 and 2006 worldwide, with its expansion, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, claiming that same achievement in 2007.

World of Warcraft is currently available in eight languages and has been launched in North America, Europe, mainland China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Argentina, Taiwan, Russia, Latin America, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

This milestone was reached as Blizzard nears the completion of its beta test period for Wrath of the Lich King, World of Warcraft’s second expansion. The upcoming title is scheduled to launch in several regions around the world starting November 13.

"It’s been very rewarding to see gamers around the world continue to show such strong support for World of Warcraft," says Blizzard Entertainment CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime. "We remain fully committed to responding to that enthusiasm with a high-quality, constantly evolving game experience."
