Valve Patch Nixes Left 4 Dead Cheats

Valve released a server-side fix for its Left 4 Dead Xbox 360 servers shortly after reports of users hacking the game's console version and harassing other players began to spread.
"The fix is designed to halt the cheating behavior on the dedicated servers, which accounts for the majority of the co-op and versus modes of play," says Valve.
Using a simple exploit that was posted online with a video tutorial, hackers were able to give themselves unfair advantages in the game, and also torment other players by sending an insurmountable group of enemies their way.
Released last month for PC and Xbox 360, Left 4 Dead is a first-person shooter in which players work together to survive against roaming hordes of "the Infected," aggressive zombies controlled either by the game or other players.
Valve intends to also release a title update for Xbox 360 gamers playing Left 4 Dead on user-hosted servers or via System Link multiplayer in "the coming days."
