BottleRocket At Work On New Project After Splatterhouse Loss

San Diego-based developer BottleRocket today officially confirmed that it will no longer be developing Namco Bandai's Splatterhouse after the publisher repossessed the title earlier this week -- but says it is working on an unannounced new project, disputing earlier reports of its de facto demise.

"BottleRocket wishes Namco the best in completing their project," the studio said in a brief statement confirming the cancellation. "The BottleRocket development team is looking forward to turning their attention to a new project soon to be announced."

Earlier this week, the studio said that Namco Bandai "showed up with a U-Haul" to take the game and all of its assets and dev kits from BottleRocket. At the time, however, the publisher said that it was "committed to bringing Splatterhouse to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year."

"At this time, we are not ready to discuss specific development details about the game, and wish BottleRocket the best of luck in their future endeavors," a Namco Bandai rep has said. Reports that Namco Bandai's Afro Samurai team will now head up the title remain unverified.

BottleRocket is not yet providing any further details on its current project in the works or whether it has a publisher.

hmmm splaterhouse remake? that could be cool. one of my favorite coin op games.. just wonder how they will do it. the image above isn't very encouraging.... much like the "new look" of alone in the dark... no soul left from the orignal great game..

In order to save your company you would need to make Mariachi Band for the Wii and sell it in all the hispanic nations.
