Renegade Kid Cancels Son of the Dragon
Renegade Kid Cancels Son of the Dragon

Developer Renegade Kid (Moon, Dementium: The Ward) announced the cancellation of Son of the Dragon, a "fantasy Gothic" title starring horror icon Dracula.

The game was slated to be published by now-defunct Gamecock Media Group, which was acquired by SouthPeak Interactive in October 2008. SouthPeak picked up a few items from Gamecock's slate including Legendary, Mushroom Men and Velvet Assassin, but apparently not Son of the Dragon.

The Austin, Texas-based studio retains the intellectual property and has promised to make further announcements if an opportunity to return to the project arises.

Announced in August 2008, Son of the Dragon promised a change in gameplay, genre, and style compared to Renegade Kid's previous projects, both first-person shooters for the Nintendo DS. The developer never formally revealed what platform the game would appear on, but it was widely speculated that the title would release for Wii.

Despite Son Of The Dragon's cancellation, Renegade Kid says it's already working on another title, for which it has yet to provide any details.

"The Renegade Kid team is hard at work on a new secret game, which will be announced in 2009," the company said on its official site. "The entire team is extremely excited about our new title, and we look forward to sharing more information with you about it soon."
