Solid State Launches Current Publishers' Edition For Windows

Content delivery software company Solid State Networks formally announced the launch of its Solid Axis Current Publisher Edition.

The company describes Current as a stand-alone plug-and-play patching solution for Windows games aimed at reducing the cost of delivering updates.

Solid State says Current PE is designed to work with a publisher's existing title, with a feature set it claims can be implemented without custom coding or programming.

Current PE also includes one-step updates, progressive downloads, "advanced" data compression, a patch creation wizard, and configurable delivery options that include optional hybrid CDN/P2P delivery tech.

Solid State says its evaluations indicate that frequently-updated game titles could save 20 to 70 percent on content delivery costs, excluding further cost reductions via its optional solutions.

"As we listened to the unique challenges that each of our gaming customers have, we saw a big need to develop a simplified version of our patching solution that eliminated the need for valuable programmer resources to be devoted to patching and delivery," says senior developer Travis Hilterbrand, Senior Developer for Solid State Networks.

"Current PE gives game publishers an easy-to-configure patching solution that is fast to deploy, but works seamlessly to deliver game updates in such a way that does not disrupt game play."
