More: Console/PC

Majesco will publish an HD remake of 2001 PC classic Serious Sam, developed by Croteam, while a little-known Austin company called Devolver Digital will act as production company.

According to a report from consumer site BigDownload, it turns out Devolver Digital is the new endeavor of Mike Wilson and Harry Miller, co-founders of original Serious Sam publisher Gathering of Developers and later, Gamecock Media Group.

The outspoken Austin-based indie publisher Gamecock apparently ran into financing trouble in 2008 and was purchased by publisher SouthPeak Interactive (Two Worlds, Ninjatown), which released the company's remaining titles and now seems to have retired the brand.

As for the new company, Wilson told BigDownload that he and "a few other old friends" have formed Devolver Digital, and that the company is "basically acting as the production company for the XBLA game, since we are not an official MSFT publisher yet, and will be publishing the PC version of the games."

"Croteam owns the [Serious Sam] IP still since they had a G.O.D. deal, and are therefore able to work with us again on the new version(s)," he adds.
