Despite its critical mauling, FIFA Street
has only strengthened its position at the top of the UK sales charts this week, knocking Gran Turismo 4
off the top of the PlayStation 2 only chart and seeing off competition from new entry Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Ubisoft’s latest stealth adventure has had to settle for a fairly disappointing third place position, although the title has proved as strong as ever on the Xbox with around 58 percent of sales being attributed to Microsoft’s format – making it the tenth fastest selling title ever for the Xbox in the UK.
Other activity in the charts has been limited with no other new entries, meaning that Viewtiful Joe 2
have both failed to enter the top forty.
However, Resident Evil 4
’s sudden slip out of the top ten last week, and disappearance from the top forty this week, can now be attributed not so much to the small GameCube user base in the UK as a lack of stock. The game is currently unavailable in most offline and online stores, with Nintendo Europe, distributing for Capcom, having failed to order enough stock to cover initial demand.
