TransGaming Technologies has released Cedega 5.1, which features support for some of the newest PC titles such as Sid Meier's Civilization IV, FIFA 06 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
Cedega allows games originally created for the Windows platform to run on Linux, straight out of the box. Other titles supported on Cedega 5.1 include Battlefield 2, Dungeon Siege II, City of Villains, Madden NFL 2006, World of WarCraft, Half-Life 2, Guild Wars, and many others. Cedega 5.1 builds on this growing list of game titles with new features that improve overall game play.
Among the enhancements included in Cedega 5.1 are an updated Cedega user interface, installer and copy protection improvements, support for wide screen monitor resolutions, and better handling for international keyboard layouts.
"Cedega is our flagship Linux product and is designed to ensure that Windows-based games run transparently and seamlessly on the Linux operating system," said TransGaming president and CEO Vikas Gupta. "We are leveraging the underlying technologies that comprise Cedega to continue to develop software portability products that allow game developers and publishers to create games for one system and deploy them across alternate platforms more cost-effectively than through the traditional redevelopment process."
