Saling The World: Uncharted 2 Leads Worldwide Multiplatform Sales

Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide.

This week's charts, with data taken from October 15th, 2009, find Uncharted 2 leading worldwide software sales across all platforms, as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona heads domestic sales on the PSP.

Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows:

Nintendo Wii
North America: 1. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 4. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 5. Wii Play (Nintendo).

Japan: 1. Okami -- Special Edition (Capcom), 2. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo), 3. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 4. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo).

UK: 1. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 5. Toy Story Mania (Disney).

Mario Kart Wii moves up two chart spots in this week's Nintendo Wii software sales rankings in North America, with overall results headed by the reigning chart champion Wii Fit Plus.

In Japan, Capcom's recently released port of Okami tops the weekly charts, as Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort trail close behind.


Xbox 360
North America: 1. Halo 3: ODST (Microsoft), 2. Brutal Legend (EA Games), 3. NBA 2K10 (2K Sports), 4. Madden NFL 10 (EA Sports), 5. The Beatles: Rock Band (EA Games).

Japan: 1. Steins;Gate -- Limited Edition (5pb), 2. Steins;Gate (5pb), 3. Gears of War 2 -- Limited Edition (Microsoft), 4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Square Enix), 5. NBA 2K10 (Spike).

UK: 1. Halo 3: ODST (Microsoft), 2. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 3. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (Codemasters), 4. Brutal Legend (EA Games), 5. Need for Speed: Shift (EA Games).

Halo 3: ODST stays on top of the U.S. Xbox 360 charts this week, with Brutal Legend taking second place in its debut week. NBA 2K10 finishes third, while Madden NFL 10 and The Beatles: Rock Band return to the top five after a brief absence.

5pb's visual novel Steins;Gate premieres as this week's new chart leader in Japan, as Halo 3: ODST overtakes FIFA 10 in the UK.


PlayStation 3
North America: 1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (SCEA), 2. Demon's Souls (Atlus), 3. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Eidos), 4. Demon's Souls -- Deluxe Edition (Atlus), 5. NBA 2K10 (2K Sports).

Japan: 1. Uncharted: Ougontou to Kieta Sendan (SCEI), 2. Uncharted: El Dorado no Hihou -- PlayStation 3 the Best (SCEI), 3. Tales of Vesperia (Namco), 4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Square Enix), 5. Demon's Souls (SCEI).

UK: 1. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (SCEE), 2. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 3. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (Bethesda), 4. Need for Speed: Shift (EA Games), 5. LittleBigPlanet (SCEE).

Uncharted 2 heads PlayStation 3 software sales in its first week of release in North America, and leads as this week's top seller across all platforms. The title also premieres as this week's biggest multiplatform seller in Japan and the UK.

The deluxe edition of Demon's Souls drops to fourth place after leading the charts last week, while the regular edition climbs up to take second place. Batman: Arkham Asylum moves up to finish third, as NBA 2K10 rounds out the domestic top five.


PlayStation 2
North America: 1. Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection (Konami), 2. Madden NFL 10 (EA Sports), 3. Kingdom Hearts -- Greatest Hits (Square Enix), 4. Kingdom Hearts II -- Greatest Hits (Square Enix), 5. Rock Band Special Edition (EA Games).

Japan: 1. Beatmania IIDX 16: Empress + Premium Best (Konami), 2. Slotter Up Mania 11: 2027 vs 2027 II (Dorart), 3. Hakuouki: Zuisouroku (Idea Factory), 4. Clannad: Best Version -- Premium Box (Interchannel), 5. Amagami (Enterbrain).

UK: 1. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 2. SingStar: ABBA (SCEE), 3. SingStar: Queen (SCEE), 4. SingStar: Singalong with Disney (SCEE), 5. SingStar: Motown (SCEE).

With Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days remaining a driving force in domestic Nintendo DS software sales, the previous PS2 entries in the series continue to rank among the week's biggest sellers on the platform.

Madden NFL 10 moves up to second place after finishing third last week, while the instrument peripheral-bundled Rock Band Special Edition returns to the top five at fifth place.


PC
North America: 1. The Sims 3 (EA Games), 2. Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy (Her Interactive), 3. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (Bethesda), 4. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (Blizzard), 5. NBA 2K10 (2K Sports).

Japan: 1. Nobunaga no Yabou: Tendou (Koei), 2. Monster Hunter Online Season 6.0 Premium Package (Capcom), 3. Monster Hunter Frontier -- Online 2-Shuunin Kinen Premium Package (Capcom), 4. SimCity 4 Deluxe (EA Games), 5. Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss (EA Games).

UK: 1. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (Codemasters), 2. The Sims 3 (EA Games), 3. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (Bethesda), 4. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (Blizzard), 5. Civilization IV: Complete Edition (2K Games).

Her Interactive's Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy makes a big sales impression in its debut week, charting second among this week's top PC sellers at Amazon.

The Sims 3 remains North America's top-selling PC software title, with the recently released Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition finishing its first week of release at third place.

North America: 1. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (Nintendo), 2. Scribblenauts (Warner Bros.), 3. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (Nintendo), 4. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (Square Enix), 5. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo).

Japan: 1. Love Plus (Konami), 2. Pocket Monsters: Soul Silver (Nintendo), 3. Tomodachi Collection (Nintendo), 4. Pocket Monsters: Heart Gold (Nintendo), 5. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (Atlus).

UK: 1. Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (Nintendo), 2. Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Nintendo), 3. My Horse & Me 2 (Atari), 4. Scribblenauts (Warner Bros.), 5. MySims: Agents (EA Games).

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story again leads weekly Nintendo DS sales numbers in the United States, with Scribblenauts and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box trailing at second and third place.

Love Plus is back on top in Japan, meanwhile, as Tomodachi Collection finishes between Pocket Monsters Soul Silver and Heart Gold at third place.


PlayStation Portable
North America: 1. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona (Atlus), 2. Gran Turismo (SCEA), 3. Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days (NIS America), 4. God of War: Chains of Olympus (SCEA), 5. Dissidia Final Fantasy (Square Enix).

Japan: 1. Macross Ultimate Frontier (Bandai), 2. Gran Turismo (SCEI), 3. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G -- PSP the Best (Capcom), 4. Undead Knights (Tecmo), 5. Minna no Sukkiri (SCEI).

UK: 1. Gran Turismo (SCEE), 2. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 3. MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (SCEE), 4. Need for Speed: Shift (EA Games), 5. Lego Batman (Warner Bros).

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona takes first place in domestic PSP sales this week, as the recently released Gran Turismo closes in at second place.

NIS America's Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days returns to the U.S. top five this week at third place, while God of War: Chains of Olympus and Dissidia Final Fantasy drop to fourth and fifth.
