Newsbrief: LucasArts has announced Star Wars 1313, a new video game franchise based on the popular space action series, that the studio says will be a darker, more mature take on the Star Wars universe.
Players will take control of a bounty hunter exploring the Coruscant underworld, as he attempts to uncover a criminal conspiracy. The game promises third-person gritty combat, as opposed to supernatural Force powers.
LucasArts is working alongside Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation and Skywalker Sound on the game, and plans to give the first glimpse of the game at E3 this month. No details regarding platform or release window have been announced as-of-yet.
I remember, I remember when Lucasarts was one of the top billing developers out there. When Tie Fighter and Jedi Knight and Shadows of the Empire came out alongside original IP's like Full Throttle.
If George Lucas went cooky then Lucasarts went full on insane, going so far as to cancel nigh complete games just months before their release date as little as a few years ago.
Since then people have been fired, and other's promoted, so I'm wondering how things have changed. We know the Star Wars Kinect game was amusingly bad, but it also sold a hell of a lot. So I'm wondering what a non horribly bad game form this hopefully reformed company looks like.
You know just the other day I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a bounty hunter game. I think someone is reading my mind, or maybe I am reading someone else and not realizing it. haha
