Newsbrief: As Norwegian developer Funcom launches its long-awaited MMORPG The Secret World, the company's long-standing CEO and president Trond Arne Aas has stepped down and been replaced.

Aas has been Funcom CEO for nearly 10 years, and moves into a chief strategy officer on the eve of the launch of The Secret World, which has been in development for more than six years.

Funcom COO Ole Schreiner has now taken up the CEO role. Schreiner has also been with Funcom for several years, and has worked actively on titles like Anarchy Online and Age of Conan. He will now head up development on the company's recently announced Lego MMO.

Unfortunately, Anarchy Online is still their best game (arguably).

What I wouldn't give for an Anarchy Online 2 announcement. It would be my most want of the last 10 years (aside from HL3). Yes, I realize you all think I'm insane, but if you haven't played AO in the last several years, you're missing a rare treat.
