Newsbrief: Game developers in Vancouver just can't seem to catch a break. Studios in the region have been relocating, or laying off staff left and right, and Dead Rising 2 developer Capcom Vancouver has now become the latest to join that growing list.
The studio confirmed on Twitter today that it has let go of 7 percent of its employees "as a result of unsuitable fit with the studio goals." While the company did not mention its current headcount, previous job listings reveal that the studio -- for a time -- housed 170 employees.
Just after announcing its layoffs, Capcom Vancouver was quick to point out that it's still hiring, as it wants to grow and attract new talent.
Prior to working on Dead Rising 2 and its spin-offs, Capcom Vancouver was known as Blue Castle Games, the studio behind baseball titles like The Bigs and The Bigs 2. The company was acquired by Capcom in 2010.
